I'm sitting here working at my writing desk and listening to a podcast of the most recent This American Life, which is "The Inauguration Show." The show features some of our kids from 826NYC, as well as other 826's around the country, reading letters they wrote to Obama after he won the election, which are all published in an upcoming book, Thanks and Have Fun Running the Country from McSweeney's Press. It's available on Jan. 20 and you can order it by clicking on the link or by visiting 826national.org.
It's so exciting hearing the kids on the radio, even if none of the ones I know were featured.
If you have kids or just like kid-centered literature, I highly recommend reading some of the other collections that 826 has put out as well, which are all scripts, short stories and other works created by the kids in our programs.
